A civil defence shelter made of concrete elements is the quickest way for building a shelter complying with regulations and standards. Karanttia® civil defence shelters are easily modifiable. Their area, height, and shape are fully adaptable to the purpose and the target building. Civil defence shelter installation takes place on a turnkey basis quickly, in only 2-4 workdays.
Our modular bathrooms are always delivered completely ready for installation. In addition to the finished structure, the prefabricated module includes bathroom furniture and fittings, as well as interior design. The frame of Karanttia® modular bathrooms is made of concrete. The actual installation at the site takes only 15 minutes.
In civil defence shelter audits, its equipment is inventoried, and the condition of the devices is checked as required by their manufacturers. Audits include a written report on the condition of the shelter. A site-specific price estimate is given for repair needs, as well as a site-specific offer for civil defence shelter equipment updates.
A range of bathroom products is available through us, including Normbau bathroom fittings and aids, as well as the Cavere bathroom collection and Avaava washbasins made of the material Durat. We also use these products in all of our Karanttia® modular bathrooms.
We offer a wide range of bathroom equipment. Our collection includes, for example, clothes hooks, shower handrails, soap dispensers, hair dryer holders, and waste bins. In addition, we offer a comprehensive range of accessible toilet aids.
Our design team can help you with various building projects. A team of construction design specialists is at our customers’ disposal, including an architect, HVAC and electrical designers, and a structural designer. The objective of construction design is to ensure the success of the overall design and integration of prefabricated parts into the larger whole.
Our special expertise also encompasses the design of accessible toilet premises and signage. Furthermore, we produce ready-made and downloadable design images for professional use in the required formats.

Karanttia Oy Perusturva is a family business founded in 1987 and specialized in civil defence and modular construction products and design services. Karanttia’s flagship product is the concrete element-based civil defence shelter. Another key product is the modular bathroom made of concrete and pre-furnished. Karanttia also imports a range of bathroom products and accessories.
Karanttia’s concrete products are manufactured by the family company Rakennusbetoni- ja elementti Oy in Hollola, which has served as our stable and reliable co-operation partner of from the very beginning.
Karanttia Oy Perusturva also offers design services, design images, and unique international-level expertise in accessibility.
Karanttia Oy Perusturva is part of the Karanttia-Avaava business entity owned by Antti Kairinen, the founder of Karanttia, and his children. They are also responsible for the operation of the business entity. Karanttia and Avaava Oy, a company specialised in accessibility, operate in the same premises and engage in a lot of common development work across corporate boundaries. Besides sharing the premises, the companies share the best practices and operating models.
